President Feser Visits SLU-Madrid in His First 100 Days

by Isaiah Voss

Early visit underscores Saint Louis University's commitment to its global mission and Jesuit values.

Saint Louis University President Edward Feser, Ph.D., visited Saint Louis University-Madrid in early October, marking one of his first major engagements within his first 100 days in office. The visit reflects President Feser's deep commitment to strengthening SLU's global presence and fostering a unified academic community that spans continents.

During his time in Madrid, President Feser and his wife, Kathy, met with faculty, staff and students across the campus community. Through a series of open forums and informal gatherings, he listened to perspectives, shared his vision for the University's future and emphasized the vital role of SLU-Madrid in advancing Saint Louis University's Jesuit mission of forming men and women for others.

The visit highlighted SLU-Madrid as a cornerstone of SLU's identity as a global Jesuit research university —— one that connects diverse cultures through academic excellence, innovation and service. As one of only a few U.S. universities with a fully integrated degree-granting campus in Europe, SLU-Madrid embodies the University’s dedication to international education and the pursuit of knowledge across borders.

President Feser's early engagement with SLU-Madrid also emphasized the importance of collaboration between St. Louis and Madrid to strengthen shared initiatives in teaching, research and student success. His conversations with members of the campus community centered on opportunities to build upon SLU's distinctive global strengths and to ensure that every student, regardless of location, benefits from the University’s academic rigor and Jesuit tradition.

The visit reaffirmed SLU's ongoing investment in its international community and its vision for a future defined by global engagement, inclusion and excellence.

As President Feser continues to shape the University's path forward, his early attention to SLU-Madrid signals that global education — and the people who make it possible — remain at the heart of Saint Louis University's mission.
